With summer travel in full swing, we are thrilled to welcome so many familiar faces back on board. While some things may have changed since your last trip in the Friendly Skies, what hasn’t changed is our commitment to getting you to your destination safely and on time. As more countries around the world begin the process of reopening, United remains committed to providing you, our guests, with a comprehensive route network that takes you where you want to go.
Over the last year, we have remained nimble and have acted quickly to meet your travel needs. As a result, United currently flies to more destinations in Europe and Asia than any other U.S. carrier, and we’ve also grown our Latin America network to be larger than at any previous point in our history. As I’m writing this, we are rapidly seeing countries move to reopen their borders. And, with the diligent efforts of our team, more and more countries are now within your reach.
Many of you are eager to take long-awaited getaways to new, exciting international destinations. Summertime in the United States is usually our busiest season, and this year—while certainly a bit different—is no exception. This summer, to offer you more choice, we are launching first-ever flights to destinations including Dubrovnik, Croatia; Accra, Ghana; and Johannesburg, South Africa. We are also expanding our offerings to Athens, Greece, and Reykjavík, Iceland. Lastly, we are eager to get you back to some of your favorite destinations, so you can take in the views of Paris from the Eiffel Tower, walk the Museo del Prado in Madrid, or enjoy the crystal blue waters of Tahiti.
Our success in building back our international network is a result of our team keeping a finger on the global pulse by closely evaluating changing restrictions around the world. We were quick to add routes when strategic opportunities presented themselves—specifically across the Atlantic, where our expansions coincided with the European Union’s recommendation to fully reopen to vaccinated tourists. This decision was a turning point in the pandemic for us, and it brings us one step closer to fully reuniting the world, again.
We understand the importance of your summer travel—be it long-awaited family vacations, trips to visit friends, reunions, or weddings—and that’s why we are doing everything we can to provide you with the best options, given the ever-changing global environment. We recognize that in order to be your airline of choice we have to work hard to anticipate and understand where you want to go—maybe even before you do!
