When it opened in 2018, this hotel breathed new life into a pair of Singapore’s finest heritage buildings: the Venetian Renaissance–style Stamford House (1904) and the Neoclassical Capitol Building (1930). 1. Eat Cuisine by a Michelin-starred Chef
Chef Alvin Leung earned three Michelin stars for his take on Chinese food at Hong Kong’s Bo Innovation. Here, at 15 Stamford by Alvin Leung, he widens his lens: Think Hokkaido scallops with sakura plum, or Indonesian roasted bone marrow. The adjacent Arcade food court also offers options such as a German café and a retro American diner.
2. Drink Like a Sailor
Mariners have passed through Singapore for centuries—some staying on this spot, at an old respite called The Sailors Home—so it’s no surprise that rum is the hotel’s base spirit. The bar offers more than 160 different labels, and it’s dedicated to the country’s first U.S. Consul General, Joseph Balestier, a sugarcane plantation owner who lived on this site in the mid-1800s with his wife, Maria (Paul Revere’s daughter!). 3. Relax at the Spa
Get some R&R at the spa—where the signature massage combines Chinese, Indian, and Malay techniques—or in the outdoor saltwater pool.
