With new United CleanPlus initiatives and more pre-departure testing options, we’re ready to soar into 2021
While people around the world resolve to change the habits they created in 2020, we’re looking to continue the ones we started. In fact, we’re doubling down on the United CleanPlus program we started last year. We’re continuing to team up with Clorox to strengthen our cleaning and disinfection procedures and Cleveland Clinic to advise us on enhancing our health and safety protocols.
To start off 2021, we’re excited to announce we’re now using Clorox® Total 360® Electrostatic Sprayers at 35 of our busiest airports and plan to continue adding more in the next few months. It’s similar to the technology we use on board our aircraft, and we use it to spray surfaces in ticketing lobbies, terminals, gate rooms, employee spaces, and United Club locations.
The Clorox Total 360 System charges and atomizes Clorox® disinfecting solutions that are EPA-approved to kill the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19. The system then delivers a powerful flow of charged particles that attract to surfaces with a force stronger than gravity. This allows the product to reach and uniformly coat germ-prone surfaces, including areas that conventional trigger sprays may easily miss.
Another recent innovation is our pre-departure testing options. Last year, we launched testing options on San Francisco–to–Hawaii routes, and in 2021 we’ll continue to pilot programs on new routes to help make COVID-19 testing more accessible, including pre-departure testing on routes to popular destinations, so you can bypass quarantine requirements or have greater peace of mind while in flight. And last month, we began offering customers the option to arrange an at-home, mail-in COVID-19 test if they’re traveling from Houston Intercontinental to select Caribbean and Latin American destinations. (Please visit united.com/covid-testing for the latest information about COVID-19 testing options.)
Even though we’re all eager to leave 2020 behind and focus on a brighter future, there’s one habit from last year we’ll need you to continue. We require all travelers to wear a face covering with no vents or openings that fully covers both your nose and mouth. You must wear your face covering during the entire flight and in the airport, including at our customer service counters and kiosks, United Club locations, gates, and baggage-claim areas.
The next time you travel with us, we can’t wait for you to experience all the innovations and technologies we have to make your trip safer. Visit united.com/hemiclean for the latest, and we’ll see you soon.
