Explore Carlsbad, California: A coastal paradise with stunning beaches, world-class golf courses, and charming seaside villages. Here are five things you can’t miss out on during your next visit to Carlsbad, the perfect place to relax, recharge, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch
5704 Paseo Del Norte, Carlsbad, CA
For over 60 years, the rolling hills of Carlsbad have been home to a 55-acre rainbow of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers at The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch! The famous blooms are one of the most vibrant and spectacular displays of natural beauty that spring has to offer.
Their double-petaled blooms sitting atop tall, straight stems are truly one of the country’s most stunning and coordinated displays of natural color and vibrancy. When you visit this wonderland, you’ll be greeted by the sweet fragrances of these flowers. The endless rows of color-coordinated blooms, from the brilliant oranges, fiery reds and sunshine yellows to the delicate pinks, dreamy purples and pristine whites, immerse you in a floral paradise many have only seen on Instagram.
The Flower Fields are more than just a feast for the eyes and nose. It’s also an opportunity to indulge in a host of spring activities and events. There is everything from outdoor music performances and foodie favorites to workshops, yoga classes and more! Other experiences that visitors can look forward to include the American flag of flowers, tractor wagon ride, artist gardens, sweet pea maze and the Cymbidium Orchid greenhouse. Tickets are available online during the season which usually runs from March until mid-May.
South Ponto Beach
Carlsbad Blvd. north of La Costa Blvd.
One of the widest beaches in the U.S., South Ponto Beach is a rare gem that exists in an undeveloped area, secluded by its high sand dunes. Coastal Highway 101 hugs the shoreline of this popular family destination, and it’s one of the few beaches in the area that has public restrooms and showers. The beach volleyball courts are a hit with active crowds (bring your own net and ball) and you can find a lot of polished stones washed up during the winter time.
The Carlsbad Aquafarm
4600 Carlsbad Blvd., Carlsbad, CA
The Carlsbad Aquafarm, the only oyster farm in Southern California, offers visitors a unique farm tour and fresh oyster tasting experience. The tour includes a Farm Discovery Walk, showcasing the techniques and equipment used to support the growth and harvesting of homegrown oysters, as well as examples of how the farming process protects the natural ecosystem of the lagoon. At the end of the tour is an oyster shucking class, with an opportunity to shuck your own oyster and enjoy a tasting (hot sauce and lemons included).
