This weekend, thousands of foodies will head to Miami for four days of sun, celebs, and gourmet cuisine at the South Beach Food and Wine Festival. If you’re one of those lucky few, you could spend your time in the 305 partying with Guy Fieri and DJ Khaled. Or you could get off your beach towel and explore the best of Miami’s ever-expanding food scene. Here, some of the best SOBEWFF events featuring local Magic City chefs, cuisine, and restaurants to give you a true taste of Miami.
Chicken Coupe, Hosted by Michelle Bernstein
There’s no bigger name in the Miami food scene than Michelle Bernstein. The TV star and head of Cafe la Trova and Sweet Liberty is heading up one of SOBEWFF’s marquee events, Chicken Coupe. Sip champagne and feast on fried chicken in the picturesque setting of Miami’s fashion-forward Design District. Champagne, chicken, Chanel—what more do you need?

Farmer’s Market Brunch, Presented by El Tequileño Tequila, Hosted by Michael Schwartz
When you think of Miami, “farming” probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. But South Florida’s year-round warm climate means it’s not hard to produce delicious tropical produce, and you can find out for yourself just how good Floridians have it at this Farmer’s Market Brunch. Veteran Miami chef and restaurateur Michael Schwartz will serve as your guide.
12 p.m. Sunday, February 26 at Jungle Plaza, Miami Design District. $125. Tickets available here.
Dinner, Hosted by Luciana Giangrandi and Alex Meyer of Boia De and Sebastian Vargas of Los Felix
Last year, when Michelin announced its first-ever Miami guide, two exciting new-school Miami restaurants—buzzy Italian hotspot Boia De and elevated Mexican bistro Los Felix—scored a coup by earning Michelin stars. Now, the award-winning chefs have joined forces to collaborate on a dinner that will give visitors a taste of the city’s newest offerings.
7 p.m. Friday, February 24, at SGWS Wynwood. Sold Out.
Croqueta-Making Master Class
All your friends who’ve been to Miami will probably tell you: “You have got to try croquetas.” How about making some? These little ham-filled pastries are an icon of the 305 and its Cuban-inflected culture, and at SOBEWFF you can learn how to craft them from a pair of pros. Raised at their grandparents’ restaurant, legendary Miami restaurant Islas Canarias—and now chefs in their own right—Eileen and Jonathan Andrade of Finka Table and Tap are croqueta experts.
1 p.m. Saturday, February 25, at The Real Food Academy. Sold out.
Overtown EatUp!
Ever try soul food in the Harlem of the South? Miami’s historically Black Overtown district is home to culinary destinations like Marcus Samuelsson’s Red Rooster. Join the James Beard-winning chef as he and Amaris Jones, the restaurant’s chef-at-large, spotlight the best of one of Miami’s Black culture epicenters with flavorful gourmet food and beverages from Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits portfolio.
