A message from Brett J. Hart
As an airline that operates across the globe, we are committed to service—both in the air and within the communities where we live, work, and fly.
Through our robust network, we’re able to help others in need through partnerships with leading humanitarian and disaster relief organizations, including the American Red Cross. When communities experience disaster, we work together to help provide aid and enable relief, support, and recovery.
In times of need, we use our aircraft to transport Red Cross employees and volunteers to provide on-the-ground support in critical moments. In the days and weeks following a disaster, we operate humanitarian flights to transport key resources for recovery, including blood products for local hospitals and clinics. Last year, we flew more than 3,000 disaster workers and 150,000 pounds of cargo supplies following Typhoon Mawar in Guam and the wildfires in Hawaii.
In addition to our own resources are the thoughtful contributions made by you, our valued customers. With our MileagePlus Miles on a Mission program, you can donate your MileagePlus miles to a charity campaign or partner to work for good. The Red Cross has been one of our ongoing partner charities since October 2019, and United customers have contributed over 50 million miles to the organization—the equivalent of going around the Earth more than 2,000 times. This, in addition to United’s ongoing donations, enables us to act quickly and be there when it matters most. We’re guided by this principle not only to aid where we can but to bring others into our mission of being a force for good. To join us and support the American Red Cross (or any of our charity partners) visit united.com/donate.
Our partnership with the American Red Cross goes beyond the relief we can facilitate with air travel. Through hosting blood drives across our hubs and connecting our employees with volunteer opportunities, we are empowering our workforce to help provide relief and recovery alongside the Red Cross. Thank you again for joining us—both on board and in service to communities across the world.
